Sarah Burtis

Sarah, a native of the Bay Area, started her love for riding at a very early age with her career starting at the age of eight as a dedicated working student for Webb Ranch. Sarah continued to progress in her riding while working at Stanford Equestrian Center where she began a successful show career competing in both show jumping and eventing. Sarah attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, where she continued competing in eventing in addition to training and showing sale horses at local stables. After receiving her degree in Environmental Design & Architecture, Sarah returned back to the Bay Area. After only a brief 2 years in an architecture office, she knew she needed to follow her passion and continue to pursue her horse riding and training career. So in 2014, Sarah became Assistant Trainer at Maloney's Horses and Ponies in Half Moon Bay where she managed a riding school and enjoyed teaching all levels of riders, while continuing to compete her personal horse, Live Action, as well as sale and client horses. Sarah has trained extensively with Jane Bartle-Wilson, Cheryl Maloney, and Beth Brown (Temkin), as well as Henk Glijn and Pam Andrews.

Sarah and husband, Matt, married in 2017 and quickly decided to move to the North Bay. Sarah is currently competing her personal horse, Live Action, with plans to compete at Preliminary this season and is pursuing her dressage Medals.

Sarah is dedicated to the correct riding and training of all the horses she works with in addition to a teaching style that provides all of her students with a deep understanding of the importance of proper balanced riding to ensure the best development for the horse. Sarah trains with a goal of creating confident happy mounts through thoughtful training programs customized to fit each horse's specific needs.
